Russia's war in Ukraine — 1 year since the invasion
The Russian army launched an extensive aerial, naval, and ground attack on its neighbour country of Ukraine in the morning of 24 February 2022. Russia’s war against Ukraine is continuing to this day. Today marks the sad first anniversary of the day when the modern history of the global society changed. What is the situation at FAMU in this context? There are 14 students from Ukraine studying at FAMU under the Mobility programme. We are immensely happy that two students successfully completed the admission procedure and were admitted to standard bachelor’s programmes in Czech – at the Department of Documentary Film and the Department of Editing. More students have applied for the admission procedure for the academic year 2023/2024. Ukrainian students take an active part in Faculty activities, they can understand Czech, and most of them are already speaking Czech actively. They attend Department lectures and special modules, several of which are guided by teachers from Ukraine. They can learn Czech and English. Thanks to the support from the Ministry of Education, students receive regular scholarships, and some of them use the accommodation facility in Beroun.
