Intended primarily for academic and research workers at FAMU (post-docs and/or people employed by FAMU as teaching or research externs under an agreement may also apply under specific conditions).
The PC is usually called in October with the deadline for applications by the end of November and the final decision on grants during February to March of the following calendar year.
The PC is usually called for one- and two-year projects, though sometimes for three-year or longer projects too.
It is possible to apply with regard to projects whose output is scientific and applicable in the RIV – the Registry of Information on Science, Research and Innovation Results (i.e., projects complete by writing and publishing a technical book or an article in a reviewed periodical, organising a workshop or a conference where the researcher presents a paper, or an exhibition complemented by a critical catalogue, etc.). In addition to basic research, this competition is also open to applied research projects (e.g., art/technology experiments and the creation of prototypes and methodologies) and to artistic research conducted through artistic work (but at least some of the outputs of such a project must be eligible for registration in the RIV).
In this competition, AMU distributes about CZK 4 million annually (funding for the first project year only), with about 4 to 7 winning projects selected from each Faculty.
The allocation depends on the project difficulty, quantity of outputs, number of researchers involved, and duration – it can be said vaguely that one-year grants usually amount to CZK 80,000 to 150,000; two-year grants range from CZK 300,000 to CZK 1 million, averaging about CZK 500,000; three-year grants have amounted to CZK 1 million to 2.5 million in recent years.
Budgets usually include personnel costs, services, procurement of minor assets, travel expenses, etc. as well as the cost of publishing books.
