FAMU STUDENT RESEARCH CONFERENCE 2023
- call for concepts

From January 2 to February 15, 2023, a call for submission of concepts for the organization of a one-day or two-day student research conference held between March and November 2023 is announced. The purpose of this call is to enable students to share experience and knowledge in various fields of research into audio-visual arts and develop their independent research activity (which may or may not be linked to the preparation of their bachelor and diploma theses or dissertations). The organisers – students or academic/research workers – may organise the conference to broaden the reach of the Faculty’s educational activities and develop collective thinking on topics of their choice.

The call understands the student conference as a conference involving a minimum of 5 (five) different papers, most of which are authored by FAMU students. The conference may also host guest lectures and discussions involving academics and experts from within as well as outside FAMU/AMU. The conference may take place in a presence manner (on the premises of FAMU) or online.

Applications may be submitted by students and academic/research workers of FAMU. Team collaborators may include FAMU students, teachers, research workers and/or experts outside the school. The maximum permissible grant is CZK 100,000.

FAMU’s Grant Committee will select the winning conference concept from the received applications, and it has the right to support a project with a grant reduced in comparison with the concept if the budget is inadequate in any items. The Grant Committee makes a conditional decision on allocating financial support during February; the final allocated amount will be notified to the winner once the FAMU/AMU budget for 2023 is confirmed by the Ministry of Education. Successful applicants will receive organisational assistance on an ongoing basis.

For questions regarding content, you can contact Vice-Dean for Research and Development Helena Bendovoá at helena.bendova@famu.cz, and for financial questions, you can contact Grant Methodologist Petra Horká (petra.horka@famu.cz). Submit your completed forms (see below) to Vice-Dean Helena Bendová no later than 15 February 2023.
