Dcera a Sh_T Happens are going to Sundance

America’s prestigious Sundance Film Festival has announced the films that will compete in the upcoming edition of the Festival from 23 January to 2 February 2020. The only two Czech representatives will compete in the short animated film section – and both were made by the students of the Department of Animated Film of FAMU. These are Daughter by Daria Kashcheeva and SH_T Happens by the filmmaking team of Michaela Mihalyi and David Štumpf!

The last time the Czech Republic was represented in the Sundance competition was in 2016 with Furiant (Peacock) by Ondřej Hudeček, a graduate of the Department of Cinematography of FAMU who won an award for directing.

We would also like to express our thanks to the organisations that were the partners to the makers of both films, the Czech Film Fund, BFILM and MAUR film.
