Miloš Forman would celebrate 90 years today

Today marks the 90th anniversary of Miloš Forman’s birth. He won two Oscars as the best film director (for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Amadeus) as well as three Golden Globes and France’s César, among other awards.

He studied dramaturgy at FAMU (1951–56) in Miloš Kratochvíl’s class.

“We wrote truckloads of analyses, short stories and scripts; we also saw loads of films and chatted about them long into the night. Thanks to destiny’s sense of irony, the school was helmed by some of the finest Czech artists.
