Stanislav Ulver passes

We have received very sad news. Stanislav Ulver has passed on. Mr Ulver was a long-time editor-in-chief of Film a doba and a long-time FAMU teacher. In addition to contemporary feature, animated, and documentary film, he also focused on avant-garde and experimental cinema. He authored many studies, most of which were published in samizdat and in Film a doba before 1989, and later also in Iluminace, Analogon, ASIFA News and numerous domestic and international catalogues. Mr Ulver wrote the book Západní filmová avantgarda (Western Avant-garde Cinema) in 1991. He also edited and published several other books including the Markéta Lazarová script by František Pavlíček and František Vláčil and an extensive almanac of studies on Czech animated film released as Animace a doba (Animation and Era). May he rest in peace.
