Call: Participation in the Cannes Film Festival
Dear Students,
FAMU is continuing its collaboration with the Cannes Film Festival with support from the French Institute in Prague and has added further activities.
The Cannes Film Festival will take place from 16 to 27 May 2023. FAMU will participate in it from 18 May to 25 May 2023.
A FAMU panel involving the Dean, Vice-Dean for International Affairs, Head of the Registrar’s Office, and Head of FAMU Studio will choose five students who will represent our school.
The accommodation in the festival town and the travel expenses (Prague–Cannes and back) will be paid for all students. The Cannes FF will grant them special accreditation that will allow them priority access to the screenings in the Cannes Classics section, as well as to films featured in the Un Certain regard, Special Screenings, and Séances du lendemain sections (the latest section mentioned features films from the In Competition section and films featured outside the competition that are shown one day after the official premiere). They will also obtain priority accreditation to the programme in the parallel competition section, International Critics’ Week.
Students will have access to the film market and its activities intended for professionals and open to the general public.
The students will have to pay the other expenses – i.e., meals, local transport, etc.
The Cannes Film Festival is preparing the following activities for the participants in this cooperation project (changes in the programme are reserved):
- Two meetings with film professionals organised by the Chanel Foundation for film school students intended to provide networking opportunities
- A meeting with other film schools involved in similar cooperation with the Cannes Film Festival
- Free admission to masterclasses and lectures delivered by film professionals under The Higher Technical Commission for Sound and Images (La Commission supérieure technique de l’image et du son - CST)

Complete the form under this link by 12 February 2023. The forms are accessible from you school e-mail addresses. This call is open to students in accredited programmes and is intended for those waiting exams. This call is not intended for Erasmus+ students. The list of the students selected will be posted on FAMU’s website by 28 February 2023. The students will then be invited to a coordination meeting.
